Rev. Kathy closes out Women's History month this week with Louisa Mae Alcott, author of Little Women. She had a passion and an urgency for life, for writing, and for service to others. Aaron and Chris are on hand for the music. Here is the bulletin.

It is the last Sunday of the month - so we will be celebrating communion and blessing our gifts of non-perishable food items for the Barnabas Center. Please bring something to put into the wagon to help our hungry neighbors.

Our 10am worship is followed by a time for light refreshments and friendly conversation. Please join us!

Kate Wiest and Rev Kathy Burton admire the altar decoration from the service on Sunday, March 12.

The creator of this beautiful quilt is Debra Baker Steinmann - a fiber artist from Atlanta.

In 2016, Debra made and donated a heart quilt in response to Quilts for Pulse, the Orlando Modern Quilt Guild's call for quilters around the globe to honor the victims and first responders of the nightclub massacre. Rainbow hearts were chosen to be the unifying symbol and 1785 quilts were collected from 23 countries and all 50 states.

This quilt repeats the heart motif and includes vintage tablecloths, linens, as well as commercial fabrics. The name, All Y'All, recalls the 2020 Southern Poverty Law Center "Y'All Means All" campaign, calling for support for the LGBTQ community amit a rise of anti-LGBTQ hate groups and legislative bigotry across the United States.

This quilt was selected to be part of the 2022 ATL ART Pride Exhibit and hung in the office of Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. It was exhibited in the February 2023 Quilts by the Sea show on Amelia Island and is featured in the March 2023 issue of the Amelia Islander magazine.

Many thanks to the artist - and to Linda Martin who shared it with our congregation today.

Rev. Kathy Burton continues her Womens History Month sermon series with the 6888. This was an all-black, all-women postal battalion that was deployed to England and France during WWII to tackle a 2-year backlog of mail that was causing low morale among the troops.

Jan Pitts Smith will be with us for the music with a selection of WWII songs.

And don't forget to spring forward by moving your clock one hour forward early on Sunday morning for the change to Daylight Savings Time. After all, we want you to be on time for our 10am worship. It is followed by a time for fellowship and refreshments. Please join us!
